Ruiner Developer Reikon Games Lays Off 80% Of Studio

Another studio is being hit with layoffs, this time it’s small independent developer Reikon Games. The Poland-based creator of Ruiner has let go 80% of the company, according to Kotaku.

Kotaku reports that the studio laid off “about 60-70” people in total. The layoffs were reportedly sudden and without warning.

As of writing, multiple people have posted on LinkedIn about the layoffs at the studio.

“My time at Reikon may have been short, but I’m thankful to have met and worked with the talented folks there, many of whom were also affected by layoffs, and who could use your support during this time,” a former QA specialist at the studio posted.

With Reikon Games’ layoffs, as well as the massive layoffs at Xbox and Activision Blizzard, the gaming industry has seen nearly 6,000 people lose their jobs in January 2024 alone. This comes after over 10,000 were let go in 2023.

Insider Gaming has reached out the Reikon Games for more on the layoffs and what it means for the future of the studio. Should a response be received, it will be added to this story.
