Earlier this year, I picked up the Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL, an all-new wireless keyboard with a super low-profile design and a classic tenkeyless layout. I had to marvel at the sturdy, tactile build of the G515 Lightspeed, which came onto the market with a price point of just $139.99.
Now, Logitech has evolved the line-up, producing and releasing the G515 Rapid TKL, an analog, wired keyboard with the same layout, aesthetic, and structure as the G515 Rapid. It also boasts the same price tag, which is nice and comes in a fair shot lower than some competing wired keyboards.
Is the G515 Rapid TKL any good? I’ve had a couple of weeks to play with one to assemble this review.
Low Profile Keyboard with High Profile Technology
The G515 Rapid TKL is one of my favorite keyboards, and from the moment I removed it from the eco-friendly packaging provided by Logitech, I was smitten. The low-profile design has become a go-to for me in the last year or so, for the sleekness as much as the understated, minimalistic aesthetic.
In the G515 Rapid TKL, you get hyper-fast, analog switches that can have their actuation thresholds adjusted for the ultimate step in keyboard customization. This keyboard stands at just 22mm tall, but despite its stature, it manages to feel like a premium, sturdy unit that will outlast the next big name on the market.
I opted for the white G515 Rapid TKL, and it comes with a handsome two-tone mix of cloud white and gunmetal grey, with a nice touch of having the WASD keys highlighted in the alternate color splash. The RGB is on point and can be tweaked nicely through G Hub’s latest software settings.
On the top of the keyboard, you’ve got POM stems, double-shot PBT keycaps, and a stainless steel top plate that provides unflinching rigidity. Underneath, there are multiple dampening layers to reduce the impact of key strokes, pre-lube magnetic switches for immensely rapid response times, and SOCD resolution tech.
At just 800 grams, the G515 Rapid TKL is a light, lithe keyboard that should be considered the perfect accompaniment to any gaming setup.
If there’s anything I can say that takes away from the stellar solution that is the G515 Rapid TKL, it’s the lack of a volume scroller or super accessible media keys. The FN keys provided aren’t terrible, but I prefer direct access keys, which I had most recently on the Logitech Pro X TKL Rapid, along with a tactile volume scroller.
Ultimately, I can firmly recommend the G515 Rapid TKL keyboard, which remains a frugal choice for anyone not willing to break the bank but also not wanting to compromise on quality.
