It’s probably a case of unfortunate chronology in the production process, but it was recently discovered that retail versions of Redfall – physical copies, to be exact – highlight that the game will run at 60 FPS. However, given a days-old announcement that Redfall will be locked to 30 FPS on consoles when the game launches on May 2nd.
In an image posted on Twitter by Jez Corden, it was shown that there’s a crude sticker slapped on the back of the case, explaining that ’60 FPS performance mode not available at launch.’ Is it a miscommunication? Did somebody forget to remove it? Were the sleeves printed before the 30 FPS announcement?
Sorry, But Redfall Isn’t Available in 60 FPS
Well, on Xbox Series X|S consoles, that is.
It was around ten days ago that Arkane revealed that Redfall, the open-world vampire-hunting Xbox -exclusive epic, will only be available to play at 30 FPS on Xbox Series X|S for now. Reportedly, there will be an update further down the line that’ll bring it up to spec, introducing a 60 FPS performance mode.
It will still be playable in 4K on Xbox Series X, and in 1440p on Xbox Series S, though.
However, someone needs to tell that to the team responsible for creating and printing the sleeves for the physical copies, as according to them, the game will be launching with 60 FPS as standard. It’s easy to figure out that the sleeves were likely printed and shipped ahead of the announcement being made regarding 30 FPS, as retail copies also come with a small sticker that informs the buyer that no, the 60 FPS performance mode is in fact not available at launch.
It’s a blunder, and it’s technically false advertising, but that sticker should patch things up for now. It’s not like anyone is going to sue Arkane or Microsoft over Redfall’s sleeve promising them something that they are sore about losing… Right?
