Pokémon TCG Pocket Main Set 3 Expansion—Rumored Release Date & Everything We Know About Next Main Set

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Set 3 Expansion represents the third phase of main-set additions. Genetic Apex and Space-Time Smackdown have flooded Pocket with many cards, and initial leaks and details are already pointing to Set 3.

There’s always an itching feeling in the back of my mind about what’s next for Pokémon TCG Pocket. I get excited about a new main or mini-set, save up my Hourglasses, go wild on day one, and I’m already looking ahead to the next expansion. As soon as Mythical Island launched, I wanted to know about the unnamed Space-Time Smackdown set, and now it’s happening with the rumored Set A2A.

But the second mini-set hasn’t been announced, and leaks are already eyeing up main Set 3.

Leaks are pointing toward Pokémon TCG Pocket Set 3 releasing on April 30.

Historically, most leaks connected to Pokémon TCG Pocket have happened. Dataminers are improving, and hidden game files are becoming easier to find than a Caterpie in Viridian Forest. Set 3’s Expansion news comes courtesy of regular Pokémon leaker @CentroLeaks.

Their February 1 X post flat-out gave a potential release date for “The next set,” to which they said it would be “April 30.

To be clear, this isn’t official—and no leaks are. But the user is renowned for dropping bombshells that are accurate. An argument can be made for this information either way. On one hand, April 30 would be in keeping with Set 1 and Set 2 release dates: Genetic Apex launched with Pokémon Pocket on October 30 and Space-Time Smackdown released on January 30.

But you can also say this leak is a logical assumption based on these facts. I think April 30 seems right and would imply a new set is coming every three months on the dot.

What To Expect From Pokémon TCG Pocket Set 3 Expansion

A Pokémon TCG Pocket Set 3 expansion is probably going to feature over 200 brand-new cards, including the base deck and special cards, focusing on a particular generation of Pokémon.

Speculation for now, yes, but unless Creatures Inc. and DeNA change Pocket’s successful formula, expect Set 3 to follow the same path as Set 1 and Set 2. The Genetic Apex A1 set has 286 Cards, and the Space-Time Smackdown A2 Set has 207 Cards.

A2 added far fewer cards than A1, lessening expectations for future sets. But I think around 200 is a good amount to anticipate. The conversation around Set 3’s generational focus should be a banger. Genetic Apex centered around first-gen Pokémon, whereas Space-Time Smackdown skipped a few and went straight to the fourth generation.

It’s complete pot luck guessing the next Pokémon to take the spotlight. Who do you think it will be? Which favorites are you desperate to Pack and put into battle?
