Phantom Liberty Gameplay Showcase Revealed

There’s just one month left until the launch of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the first and last expansion for the rags-to-riches title that was released back in 2020. It has been a tough journey for the beleaguered game, but it’s finally coming out on top, and Phantom Liberty promises to be a ‘reset button’ of sorts, being released as a major overhaul to the base game and an immense injection of new content.

During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase, a Phantom Liberty gameplay showcase was revealed, with a fair portion of the ambitious expansion’s new features being shown to eagerly awaiting fans the world over. Featuring a great cast, a surely immersive story, and a hearty helping of new gameplay mechanics, Phantom Liberty is the perfect send-off to what has become a legendary game.

Phantom Liberty’s Gameplay Looks Insane

It has been said that Phantom Liberty is essentially a ‘soft relaunch’ for Cyberpunk 2077. Not only is the expansion adding an all-new story with a fresh host of characters, but it’s also opening up major new areas to explore, introducing an array of gameplay changes, and hundreds – if not thousands – of quality-of-life improvements, fixes, and amendments.

In the Phantom Liberty gameplay showcase revealed at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, we saw some of the all-new, hyper-impressive weaponry, cyberware, locations, and vehicles coming to Phantom Liberty. There are brand new perks, abilities, finishers, and a whole new skill tree – which has actually been dormant in the game for quite some time.

There’s a new feature coming in the form of vehicle-based combat, which wasn’t ever a thing. It seems like V is more hunted than ever before, and an all-new bounty system has been introduced for Phantom Liberty.

Here’s the trailer:

Finally, CD Projekt Red announced that most of what was shown will be coming to Cyberpunk 2077’s base game as a free upgrade that has been dubbed ‘Update 2.0’.

Phantom Liberty will be released to all comers on September 26th – are you going to invest in Cyberpunk 2077’s first and last expansion?
