How to Beat Okumura in Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal is a popular role-playing game that offers a variety of challenging boss battles. Okumura is a difficult fight that requires careful planning and execution. Many players have found themselves stuck at this point in the game, unsure of how to overcome Okumura’s formidable defenses.

To defeat Okumura in Persona 5 Royal, you’ll need to utilize a combination of effective strategies, including optimizing your team’s abilities, exploiting enemy weaknesses, and managing your resources wisely. We’ve provided the best tips and tactics to help you conquer Okumura and progress further in the game.

Start by Building a Strong Team

When you download games like Persona 5 Royal, it’s better to build up a strong team from the get-go. You’ll need to come prepared with a team that has the right builds.

Okumura spends most of the fight buffing his robots. So you’ll need a Phantom Thief that has the ability to cast a specific spell called Dekaja. It should be noted that this spell doesn’t inflict damage, but it removes buff casts on your enemies. You’ll also need to learn another spell called Dekunda that removes buffs cast on all your teammates.

Panther learns these spells, but only when she reaches level 16 in the game. She can gain knowledge of the spells by going to the Confessional in Kanda.

The Characters You Want On Your Team

Each character in Persona 5 Royal has various skill sets and attributes. But not all of them are ideal to go up against Okumura. If you want to finish the boss fight fast, then you’ll want the following players on your team:

  • Noir: For Mediarama, Magaru, and Rakukaja
  • Morgana: To get the Mapsio and Amrita Drop
  • Panther: To use the Dekaja spell

Get the Right Items

ou’ll also need healing items and spells as well as revival items. The reason for this is because when Okumura attacks, he inflicts hunger on you and your teammates.

The items you need are:

  • Yokisoba pan: You can find this item at the Shujin Academy store, and it costs ¥150. It will heal you with 50HP.
  • Torimeshi Ration: You can find this item in the vending machine at Untouchable. It costs ¥800 and Cures Hunger for one ally.
  • Baptismal Water: Find this at Kanda. It will cost you ¥1000 and will remove all buffs on enemies.
  • Kundaclear-R: Find this item at Takemi Clinic for ¥1600. It works by removing all stat debuffs for one ally.
  • Hunger Gem: You can find this item at Shibuya Mall for ¥80,000. This item works by nullifying hunger.
  • Alert Capsule: Find this item at the Takemi Clinic for ¥800. It will cure various attacks, such as dizziness and sleepiness, for one teammate.

Coming to the Boss Fight

Now that you know what builds and spells you need in Persona 5, it’s time to face Okumura. The battle for this boss fight will last for 30 minutes. To defeat Okumura successfully, you and your allies must kill all the robots. Don’t let any of the robots escape because Okumura will use this to spawn more of them.

The First Wave of Robots

At the beginning of the fight, Okumura will spawn a group of MDL-WKR Corporobos that are all sitting on level 43. At this stage, Okumura will pick a Phantom Thief for the Corporobos to attack. Use fire and wind to attack them during your turn.

Second Wave – Cognitive Haru

After you’ve killed all the robots, Okumura will then summon Cognitive Haru, which allows him to have two moves instead of one. Use Ice and Psy to attack the next wave of robots.

Third Wave of Robots

For the third wave of robots, you’ll find that they resist most attacks except Nuke or Electricity. Use Makoto’s Mafrei to kill them. You can also use Haru’s Triple Down to inflict gun damage.

Fourth Wave of Robots

For the fourth wave of robots, use attacks such as Bless, Wind, or Gun to inflict significant damage on them.

Fifth and Sixth Wave of Robots

This wave is slightly more difficult than the others because the robots resist most attacks. But you can hit them with Curse or Psy to inflict damage because they are weak against these two spells. Use your blocking ability for the sixth wave of robots.

The Final Wave

For the final wave, Okumura will summon Cognitive Haru. Use your block ability when  Cognitive Haru attacks. After all the robots are killed, Okumura will be easy to defeat with one or two attacks.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, defeating Okumura in Persona 5 Royal takes time and a well-developed strategy. Use the tips in this guide to help you defeat this boss fast and experience a well-deserved victory with your team!
