Paradox Acquires Former Tropico Developer Haemimont Games

Paradox Interactive has added another studio under its umbrella as the company has announced the acquisition of Haemimont Games. The move makes Haemimont Games a solely owned subsidiary of Paradox Interactive.

“We are very happy to welcome Haemimont Games to Paradox!” Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester said via media release. “They bring a tight-knit team with long experience in developing management games with many well received projects in their portfolio.

“Moreover, they have a strong creative streak, technology developed for their niche, a new IP in development and a strong culture that fits Paradox’s way of working. We have strong faith in their team and leadership, and our main focus now is to ensure that they can continue to create great games under new ownership.”

Under Paradox, Haemimont leadership and staff will remain the same. In addition, all of the developer’s current projects will continue forward.

“The cultural fit between our companies is remarkable, and we already feel at home,” Haemimont founder Gabriel Dobrev said. “This partnership empowers us to push the boundaries of our games, delivering deeper and more intense experiences to our players. It also opens new horizons for our team, technology, and creative processes, which we’re eager to explore.”

Haemimont was founded in 1997 by Dobrev in Bulgaria. In 25 years, the studio has released a number of real-time strategy and city-building games like Surviving Mars, Grand Ages: Rome, and Tropic 3-5.

Both Paradox and Haemimont declined to disclose the cost of the acquisition.
