The success of Palworld continues just days after its launch into Early Access. Not only has it sold more than 4 million copies in just three days, but Palworld has also become the second-most-played paid game in Steam history.
As of publishing, Palworld has reached a concurrent player base peak of 1,291,967 players. That puts it behind only PUBG: Battlegrounds for the Steam record for most concurrent players for a paid game (3,257,248). While PUBG is currently free-to-play, its record player base came when it was still a paid premium title, making it the record holder.
Overall, the game is fifth all-time behind free-to-play games like DOTA 2, Counter-Strike 2, and Lost Ark. The games it’s passed include Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, and Baldur’s Gate 3.
The booming popularity of the game comes despite claims of ripping off Pokemon characters as well as using AI for the game’s development.
Insider Gaming has reached out for comment on the claims players have been making online against the game. So far, developer Pocket Pair has yet to comment publicly on the accusations.
