Microsoft and Outriders developer People Can Fly have signed a deal for the company to develop a new game for the Xbox.
The deal was announced on Wednesday by People Can Fly, and will be a work-for-hire contract with a total production budget estimated between $30-$50 million.
“The development of the Game by [People Can Fly] will be performed under the work for
hire model, based on the intellectual property rights owned by the Publisher and will be
entirely financed by the Publisher when advancing by the Company of the development
works under the milestones.”
The game, currently known as “Project Maverick”, will be based on an intellectual property (IP) owned by Microsoft. There was no mention if the new game will be an existing IP or a brand-new one from the company.

Founded in 2002, People Can Fly is responsible for titles such as the aforementioned Outriders as well as the PC port of the original Gears of War and co-development work on Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgement with Epic Games.
