OpTic Texas has revealed the newest member of the starting roster after Kenny was dropped following a recent miserable streak in the Call of Duty League. In a video shared live on YouTube by OpTic Gaming, it was revealed that Cesar ‘Skyz’ Bueno has joined OpTic Texas in the CDL.
Skyz was just let go from Los Angeles Guerrillas M8, following which he instantly became the number one favourite for replacing Kenny in OpTic Texas.
Ahead of Major II
Kenny was dropped by OpTic Texas mere days before the start of Major II, which ironically is taking place in Texas and is being backed by the organisation. The dismissal followed weeks of sub-par performances from OpTic Texas that left the team sitting on a woeful map record of 0-18.
The regain came in the form of a win over LAG M8, one of the lowest-ranked teams in the CDL right now.
Skyz appeared alongside Scump in the broadcast in front of 14,000 viewers eager to see the next player stepping up to the plate for OpTic Texas.
He said:
I don’t really feel the pressure, I just feel kind of excited. I know what I can do when I have good teammates, and Ant, he has really good comms too.
I think I’m really good at enabling players, and I think just my vibes, I’ll bring a good team culture in general.
Scump revealed that Skyz has had one day with the OpTic Texas roster to scrim, and Major II will kick off this Thursday. It’s a tough spot to be in, but Skyz already has a solid relationship with these players and he’s nothing if not adaptable.
Fans are expecting something to go well at Major II. It’s in the same stadium where OpTic Texas won the CDL Championship last year, the first that the organisation has claimed since 2017. Only time will tell.
