No Man’s Sky Relics Update Lets You Design Skeletons

The No Man’s Sky’s Relics update, v5.6, is turning players into palaeontologists. In the new update, players must find unique bones, design fossil exhibits, and go on expeditions to recreate lost creatures.

Designing Skeletons in No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky’s Relics update will have players messing about with bones so that you will design and assemble full-fledged skeletons. The ancient bones you find during travels can be re-assembled into alliances according to your imagination, with millions of possibilities for unique species on the cards.

Players have various bones to collect for their designs, ranging from ribcages, limbs, skulls, tails, and hundreds more unique fossilised parts. The Fossil Exhibits you design can be sold to collectors on Space Stations or traded for a selection of fossils.

However, bones are not limited to design; players can create new bone-based recipes in the Nutrient Processor or decorate their houses with them. Additionally, they should visit Planetary Dig Sites to harvest large bone caches.

Reanimated Enemies

No Man’s Sky Relics update has a new foe for you to take on, reanimated guardians. These hulking stone lifeforms defend ancient burial grounds from travellers disturbing them. Apart from that, the planets that feature ancient bones or are within the purple star system have observed that Skeletal fauna has risen from the fossil beds, so you might want to keep an eye out for them, too.

Moreover, there are Living Stone Sentiries that protect fossil sites, shooting projectiles of stones and crystals at anyone who comes close. Also, rare skeletal sandworms, such as Titanic Boneworms, can appear in some worlds. There are also colossal Stone Effigies that you will find across the world.

No Man’s Sky’s Relics Expeditions

Players must sign up to the Galactic Palaeology Society to join the community on a journey to recreate these ancient lifeforms and unearth the secrets in these lands. Participating in these expeditions lets players earn an “unusual flight device, sculpted from the remains of sentient rock.”

Players who complete Relics Expeditions receive new posters, decals, titles, a customisation set, a Living Stone suit, the unique Basilisk Crown staff, a mysterious skeletal companion, and the exclusive Living Stone jetpack. The skeletal companion is a loyal, fleshless creature of animated bone.

There’s a lot more to No Man’s Skys Relics update, including an improved abandoned mode, a sharing system, customisations, decorations and resources that you can check out in the patch notes. The patch notes also reveal all the new bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
