Nintendo has confirmed the pre-order details for the Nintendo Switch 2. With the console releasing on June 5 for $449.99, the company has announced that pre-orders for the new system will officially open on Wednesday, April 9.
The pre-order date, which was confirmed via Nintendo’s official press release, lines up with details exclusively reported by Insider Gaming on the company’s plans.
“Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for pre-order in North America from participating retailers beginning on April 9, 2025,” the release reads.

If you are in the UK, pre-orders open a day earlier on April 8.
As far as the official time for when pre-orders open, that wasn’t revealed. That information should be announced in the coming days. Pricing, as mentioned above, is $449.99 for the base console. Those who want the Mario Kart World bundle will be able to get it for $50 more at $499.99.
If you choose to pre-order via Nintendo, the company is working to limit scalpers with a new pre-order plan. According to the company, those who want to pre-order through Nintendo will have to be an active Nintendo Switch Online member for “at least two years continuously by March 31, 2025”. Players must also have spent a certain amount of time playing on the console with priority going to those who played more. It’s currently unknown how other retailers will work to combat scalping.
