During CES 2025, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku revealed a 35-second snippet of in-engine gameplay from the ‘New Virtua Fighter Project’ that was unveiled during The Game Awards 2024. The glimpse of this developing title isn’t a gameplay sequence, but it’s a perfect representation of what RGG is aiming for with the first new Virtua Fighter game in almost 20 years.
Pre-Development Only, No Gameplay
It’s important to stress that the 35-second clip aired by Sega is not gameplay. It’s pre-development footage taken from the game’s engine.
In the short video, we get a look at two characters fighting in a marketplace after a brief introduction,. They trade blows for a few seconds, kicking each other into destructible elements of the environment before the sequence fades to black and the Sega logo flashes up.

It’s little more than a conceptual thing, but it admittedly looks brilliant, and that’s coming from someone who has never enjoyed a fighting game. The small details like the NPCs milling around in the background are super, and the intro sequence is interesting, taking players outside of the typically tiny environments that players fight in.
At The Game Awards 2024, RGG unveiled the ‘New Virtua Fighter Project’, which will be the first new VF game in the series since 2006.

Still needs polish but ok. Maybe we get some Dead Or Alive guests? Hopefully Koei Tecmo does what’s right and brings Tomonobu Itagaki back to make a new Dead Or Alive we need him🙏
Normally Sega shows Sonic at CES? Honestly would love to see RGG make a Sonic game since they seemed interested finally a open world Sonic no Aaron Webber or Ian Flynn. Would also love to see them finally remake Shenmue 1-3 and the PSP Yakuza games. Where’s the other Sega games like the new Jet Set Radio and the remake? Shinobi? Crazy Taxi? Also did Akira end up with Sarah and have a daughter named Stella or is Stella the daughter of Jackie? Hope Majima and Kiryu are in this finally give Kiryu a son.
The textures and reflections still need work. But animation looks overall good and I think the most detailed backgrounds I’ve seen in fighting games. Konami should do the same finally bring Bloody Roar back with Eighting and Kenji Fukuya even use Fox Engine if you want.
Hey EA see this so this with Frostbite and a new Def Jam game to actually make people see what Frostbite can do that engine looks great I mean Dead Space remake amazing do that with a GTA clone and Def Jam. I mean look at Sega with Dragon Engine now I want a Sonic game from these guys it would be interesting a true Japanese Sonic game. Curious what the story mode will be are we getting like a Konquest mode too? Open world like Like A Dragon? Also guests Fighting Vipers?
They need to fix this a bit Akira looks too much body wise like a goofy Street Fighter character just fix that up and make him and others look more real like how the RGG boys look like fix that up. It would be even more crazy if Tomonobu Itagaki supervise a collab with Dead Or Alive guests since with got Virtua Fighter guests in Dead Or Alive.
Just don’t work with max dood avoid bringing him in for insight that guy ruins everything he touches tekken, street fighter, killer instinct, mortal kombat, final fantasy all dead by max’s involvement.

Still needs a lot of work. Look at Like A Dragon’s graphics then look at this still a lot of work needs to be put in. Akita’s build needs to be fixed his muscles and stuff less cartoony.
Can we get a new Virtua Quest? Virtua Cop? Shenmue 4 now. Hope we get like a Yakuza style open world story or a separate mode like that. Also Kiryu and Majima need to be in the game. Still I want a Kazama game set where he kills Kiryu’s parents none of the wacky shit make it like the classic PS2 gamesz
Yeah please do not work with he usual suspects don’t work with max dood. Sega has a problem where they’ve given him deals to play games and he hates them like Sonic and Yakuza/RGG or Metaphor don’t bring him in to this he will ruin it. Keep the influencer trash away from this! max is already trying to glaze keep him away keep the west coast garbage in their shit hole. Hopefully with these tech companies siding with Trump max and others go away delete his X account.
Someone please get RGG a copy of Sleeping Dogs so we can get a game like that without the Not Ping elements with more Yakuza and in Dragon Engine. Also these guys have wanted to make a Sonic game let them finally make a 100% Japanese Sonic game in Dragon Engine with no Ian Flynn involvement or Aaron Webber just let RGG cook like a open world Sonic game.

He’s even trying to walk back all the shit he’s said about Itagaki for decades now he and Matt McMuscles all the lies they spread for their politics! I think he knows a new Dead Or Alive is happening too so he wants work don’t bring him in at all! Do not work with that cancer or his friends.
