Natus Vincere has claimed the top spot at the Esports World Cup, dominating G2 in a reverse sweep for the ages and landing the $400,000 grand prize – and 1000 Club Championship Points. It was an epic tournament from start to finish, and during the playoffs, NAVI propelled ever onwards, wiping out FaZe Clan, MOUZ, and finally, G2 Esports to win the first CS2 tournament at the Esports World Cup.
Historic Win
Natus Vincere is by no means a stranger to Counter-Strike victories. It’s one of the winningest organisations in the space and has claimed countless trophies, but this one is extra special as it’s the first Counter-Strike 2 tournament to take place at the inaugural Esports World Cup. Now, Natus Vincere’s name will be forever carved in the history books – and on the grand plinth in Riyadh that marks the victors at this monumental event.
In the closing rounds of the tournament, Natus Vincere almost walked effortlessly to the win with a 13 – 6 victory on Inferno. In almost every round, Natus Vincere’s Valerij ‘b1t’ Vakhovsjkyj proved to be far too dominating a force for G2 to handle, earning the Ukrainian player his first MVP award and a high rating from HLTV.
Now that the dust has settled in Riyadh, players can look forward to the next big Counter-Strike 2 event – IEM Cologne 2024, which boasts a $1 million prize pool. After that, we’ve got the ESL Pro League S20, the BLAST Premier: Fall Final, the Thunderpick World Championship, the BLAST: World Final, and then the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
It’s a good year to be a CS2 fan.
