After silence for most of the last year, Nacon is finally set to show off more of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game. The publisher will show the game during its next Nacon Direct event on March 9.
Originally announced back in 2019, Gollum has been delayed multiple times. The latest coming in July 2022.
“We are dedicated to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien,” the studio said at the time of the latest delay.
Gollum is a “story-driven action-adventure” title that sees players take on the role of the titular character. The story of the game takes place alongside the events within The Fellowship of the Ring.
“While being vital to the story by J.R.R. Tolkien, many parts of Gollum’s quest have not been told in detail yet,” the publisher says. “In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum™ you get to experience this story. From his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood.
“Use stealth, agility and cunning to survive and overcome what lies ahead. Climb, leap and grapple your way past dangers or into advantageous spots.”
Gollum is expected to launch sometime between April and September 2023. Originally planned for both last- and current-gen consoles in 2021, there’s been no word on if release platforms have changed.
In addition to Gollum, Nacon will also give a new look at RoboCop: Rogue City.
