Mortal Kombat 1 Ghostface Gameplay Revealed

In a fitting reveal for Halloween, NetherRealm Studios has revealed the first look at gameplay for Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1. The gameplay was revealed by franchise co-creator Ed Boon on social media.

Ghostface, for those who don’t know, is the main antagonist from the popular Scream series. What makes them so unique is that it’s never the same person under the mask in the movies. In total, there have been 14 people behind the mask.

In the clip, which you can see below, Ghostface fights Johnny Cage. They have their distinct voice-changer that keeps their identity hidden while also equipped with a knife.

Ghostface will be available in Mortal Kombat 1 starting November 19 for those with Early Access. Everyone else can start slashing away on November 26.

Ghostface is just the latest fighter to be added to Mortal Kombat since the game’s release in September 2023. He is the 10th overall addition, and a part of the game’s Kombat Pack 2. Future additions to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster will include Conan the Barbarian and T-1000 from Terminator 2.

NetherRealm will announce those releases at a later date. Whether there will be a Kombat Pack 3 also remains to be announced.

What do you think of Ghostface coming to Mortal Kombat 1? Let us know down below, and take the discussion further in the official Insider Gaming forums.

  • Forget this garbage! Are they making Injustice 3? Mortal Kombat 1 is garbage no one is coming back are they ready for Injustice 3 soon or no? How far away is the next game?

  • Ed Boon promised us a new Def Jam it’s beyond time they finally deliver that! MK is just bad it’s time to move on and time Def Jam finally comes back. NRS needs to reveal Def Jam at TGA.

  • Fire Ed Boon this game is his idea the whole MCU style and universe reboot were his awful ideas and all the other bad elements kameo system, grind, the bad designs, lack of PS2 era, the hate for Hanzo.

  • Are they making Injustice 3 or not? They should end DLC after this and go into overdrive to repair the damage this game did before the generation ends and finally switch to UE5.

  • Everyone needs to hold Ed accountable with Def Jam demand that game if it doesn’t happen call him the clout chaser culture vulture he is man is 61 years old time to grow up!

  • First off I don’t know why Ed is still on Twitter everyone there is a hypocrite why are you there and in the opposing political direction that makes you more of an enabler. Anyway Injustice 3 is not happening, and Ed should stop with the trolling his influencer friends make it worse teasing a new Def Jam or DC vs Marvel game is playing with fire.

  • Instead of Injustice I think adapting the Wildstorm universe would be better just bring in names like Christos Gage, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Robbie Morrison to help also Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. With Wildstorm they could be a little more edgy with it and even M rated.

  • Ghost Faces Looks Awesome, Can’t wait until he comes out… I’m not a Fan of the Cameo thing this time around but I LOVE the DLC Choices every DLC Choice is a 10 Peacemaker is MY GUY!!!

  • Time for this game to die and for a new game to be out already and this time use Unreal 5 I’d be fine with Def Jam just hire better writers for that so it’s not some MCU trash and make sure the females look sexy don’t make them baddies look like dykes or horse faces

  • A while back Colin Moriarty said he heard Travis Scott was coming to MK1 have you heard anything on that like who Travis will be? Colin was right about Megan and Jean Claude prior.

  • This game has overstated its welcome and it’s past expiration by a year now. Where’s the update on Virtua Fighter 6 rumor was that game would be revealed this year where is it? Time for Virtua Fighter, Dead Or Alive, and Bloody Roar to make their comebacks over this garbage game. Sega needs to show Virtua Fighter, Konami needs to give Eighting the bag to bring back Bloody Roar, and Koei Tecmo needs to make amends with Itagaki to save Dead Or Alive and Ninja Gaiden. Street Fighter is bad, Tekken sucks, and this game is spoiled milk. The less said about Guilt Gear and their weirdo players the better.

  • I don’t think Injustice 3 will ever happen. WB should hire Arc System Works to make a DC fighting game use the Glen Murakami 2003 Teen Titans and Jeff Matsuda 2005 The Batman cartoon designs and bring writers from those shows to write a story mode.
