Mortal Kombat 1’s next year of content was just outlined at SDCC by Ed Boon, the CCO at NetherRealm. He took to the stage to reveal what’s coming next in the Khaos Reigns DLC, which is set to drop on September 24. He also outlined what’s coming over the next year, including a fresh story expansion and Animality.
Superstar Appearances
On September 24, the Khaos Reigns DLC will be released in Mortal Kombat 1, ushering in six new characters with impressive profiles:
- T-1000 (Terminator)
- Ghostface
- Conan the Barbarian
- Noob Saibot
- Sektor
- Cyrax
The ‘celebrity crossover’ characters will be available sometime after the launch of the DLC, with NetherRealm opting to drip-feed them in while making Saibot, Sektor, and Cyrax available at launch. The developer has managed to secure the original voice actors for both Ghostface and the T-1000, which is neat.
Boon also spoke about the return of Animalities, the mechanic that sees various characters transform into vicious creatures during a Fatality strike. He spoke at length about the inbound story update, which will focus on Havok and his role in the overarching universe.
All in all, it’s a fairly hefty offering and it should do well to please fans of the gory fighting game for a few more months.

No this pack is whack I never understood the Ghostface in Mortal Kombat thing since he’s nothing like the other slashers he’d easily get killed by any of the characters in Mortal Kombat and it’s not a individual it’s a moniker a bunch of people used in a franchise that should have been done years ago. The terminator dude I don’t know why he’s here I had to look him up and Arnold Conan is a weird pick too like wayyy too old. Homelander and Omni Man made sense they were relevant and they were the best Mortal Kombat guests ever unlike this pack. The gender swaps of the cyber ninja I guess is weird and I don’t get why Cyrax has an accent now he didn’t have one before so is this one not American? I don’t get why Takeda is in this game either. This is the first Mortal Kombat mainline game without Hanzo as a playable character and it sucks. You guys hear anything about Travis Scott being in this I heard that and it’s funny he still hasn’t been announced.
How far away is Injustice 3? Ed teased “multiple pots on the stove” and everyone is saying they’re making that and will continue to support this. Didn’t you guys say Eyeballistic was making an MK project?
Never going to happen Ed Boon hates DC and forced the staff to make this despite them suffering from seeing graphic images for too long. If they were to make an Injustice 3 it would come out for next gen. Ed did an interview saying their next game will be Unreal 5 or 6 for sure hold him to that the man is a serial liar when he said that pots on the stove thing I think he meant Onslaught which is now dead he recently confirmed they have no plans to go make Injustice now while not completely throwing it out the realm of possibility as to not upset that audience anymore but he’s also said they’re not working on a new game right now and only working on Mortal Kombat 1 so don’t expect another game from them this generation. Look how long it took them to make Mortal Kombat 1 like 4 years and it’s still broken imagine them having to learn a new engine again and new consoles they’d take 10 years at this rate so by 2038 you might get a new Injustice or Mortal Kombat more likely if they’re still open.
This was not exciting or worth it no one likes this pack it’s the worst pack ever when the game gets killed like Suicide Squad don’t be surprised

The shills are in full effect defending this game for their daddy Ed Boon. The sooner this is dead the better no one wanted this game not the fans not the devs. Fans wanted 3D era they wanted all the things from those games not this! Ed never had heavy involvement with the 3D era so he really doesn’t know or care about it compared to 1-4 and MKvsDC-11 those are what he worked on. These characters are all garbage choices and Havik never should have been the villain it should have been Onaga or better yet 11 shouldn’t have happened and then Onaga came back. Then Injustice 3 could have been the multiverse game the way it was supposed to be.
