Monolith Soft has announced through a post on X that it is hiring new development staff for an upcoming RPG directed by Tetsuya Takahashi, the company’s CCO and Director and the creator of the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
Not much is known about the title besides the genre being “new RPG.” Tetsuya Takahashi stated in a blog post that the “new RPG” will take on newer challenges than the previous Monolith games. They want to expand as “the content to be created is becoming more sophisticated,” interested developers can apply for eight job types, ranging from “asset creation to lead.”
Takahashi further explained that Monolith Soft has created games with a smaller staff. Still, the current situation in the gaming industry requires them to hire more people. For instance, the Xenoblade Chronicles director explained that they cannot use “human wave tactics to produce a large amount of material” for their new RPG and want to “provide an efficient production environment.”
Interested developers can apply for eight job types for Monolith Soft’s upcoming RPG, including 2D Designer (artwork staff, Leader Class), 3DCG Designer (character), 3DCG Designer (map), Development Environment Engineer, Field Level Designer, Assistant Director, In-game animator, and Effect Designer.
Tetsuya Takahashi’s last mainline instalment for Monolith Soft was Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Released in 2023, the title was appreciated by critics and general players. It received a Metascore of 89 and a user score 8.5 on Metacritic.
In other news, a modder has added sliding and other movement mechanics to Fallout 4. Also, The Last of Us Season 2 teaser has revealed content beyond the game. What are your thoughts on Monolith Soft’s upcoming RPG by Tetsuya Takahashi? Let us know in the comments.
