Are you excited about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Esports World Cup tournament? The 2024 event is set to be held in August in Saudi Arabia, where many other games will also be hosting World Cup tournaments.

Here is everything you need to know about the Modern Warfare 3 Esports World Cup event, including the schedule, prizes, format and more.


Modern Warfare 3 Esports World Cup Schedule

With many different esports events happening in Saudi Arabia at the moment for the Esports World Cup, Modern Warfare 3 is just one of the games sharing the spotlight. Still, though, the popular title has quite a few fans excited for the competition.

Official Dates:

  • August 15
  • August 16
  • August 17
  • August 18

Each day of competition is expected to last around five to seven hours.

The Semi-Finals and Finals will both take place on Sunday, August 18 at 10 AM EST.


Prizing

The tournament will split a $1,800,000 prize pool amongst the 16 teams competing.

Official Prize Pool:

  • 1st: $600,000
  • 2nd: $320,000
  • 3rd-4th: $160,000
  • 5th-8th: $80,000
  • 9th-12th: $40,000
  • 13th-16th: $20,000

Every team competing walks home with money. Even the last-place team will still receive $20,000 in prizes.

Format

Here is the official format for the Modern Warfare 3 Esports World Cup:

  • Group Stage
    • Four groups of four teams
    • Best of five GSL Format
    • Top two of each group advances
  • Playoffs
    • Best of five Single-elimination
    • Best of seven Grand Final

Matches are played as 5v5s, featuring three different game modes.

  • Hardpoint
  • Search and Destroy
  • Control

Among these three game modes are multiple maps that will be played during the tournament.
