Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 3 Reloaded will launch on May 1, and with it comes a slew of details.
As usually, the reloaded launch will include new game modes, maps, equipment, weapons, and more.
Starting with multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 Reloaded sees two new game modes come to playlists in Minefield and Escort. Minefield is a mode that takes numerous other modes within the game, however, when you die, you drop a Proximity Mine in the battlefield. In Escort, players are tasked with guiding and guarding a MAW as you work to hack three points on the map. Like other escort modes in various games, the MAW will only move if an attacking player is nearby while defenders can help push it back away from the points.
In addition to the modes, two more core 6v6 maps enter the rotation: Grime and Checkpoint.
Grime is a medium-sized map located in a “abandoned corner of London”. Checkpoint, also a medium-sized map, is based on the Stronghold on Rebirth Island.
For players, a new BAL-27 assault rifle will be available. The new gun “offers quick reloads and a unique firing mechanism whereby the initial four shots favor accuracy before the weapon kicks into a higher fire rate to finish the job and bring down your target fast.”
Also coming in the update for Warzone is the Specialist Perk Package. When activated, operators will “benefit from all available perks”. A new killstreak called Foresight, which can be found as rare loot, will show players the location of every gas circle in the match.
Call of Duty Zombies players weren’t left out in the update, either. A new story mission sees players have to rescue Dr. Ava Jansen.
“A new anomaly strikes the Exclusion Zone as the third Dark Aether Rift appears,” Activision says in the description. “Dr. Jansen has been lured through its portal, and the Operators of Operation Deadbolt must now conduct a rescue mission with Ravenov’s help to get her back before it’s too late.
“Prepare to face off against a horde of foes in this mid-season Story Mission, including a new Disciple variant that will put your squad’s slaying skills to the test.”
There’s plenty more coming in Season 3 Reloaded that you can learn all about via Activision’s blog on the update.
