Infinity Ward and Activision are yet to officially confirm the amount of maps coming to Modern Warfare 2.
In comparison to Call of Duty Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2 will have four less maps (Vanguard launched with 20). But in the grand scheme of things, 16 multiplayer maps for a Call of Duty game is about average.
Earlier in the year, content creators and media got there hands on the Grand Prix map, that magically vanished from the rotation during the games BETA.
Activision did not comment on why the map was removed, but the addition of the map in the files suggest it was likely because of the map name itself. The map will now be called “Crown Raceway” when Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28th.
Crown Raceway is set to give players the chance to run around Marina Bay in Singapore, with the map based on the real-world Formula 1 Grand Prix that takes place there every year.
The map features cars that actually drive around the track, in addition to other locations you might expect like garages and pit boxes. It’s currently unclear if they’ll be any additional changes to the map or not, apart from its name.
