Microsoft could be brining updated technology to future Xbox controllers in the form of haptic motors. First found by Tech4Gamers, a recently filed patent suggests Xbox controllers will get new haptic feedback features sometime soon.
According to the patent’s abstract, the new motor features a housing, connector, and haptic motor. Upon activation, the haptic motor will “move relative to the housing to generate the haptic feedback”.
In the patent description, it’s claimed that the haptic motor can be “dynamically” tuned for device optimization. What’s more is that it’s said that the motor can create two types of vibration in order to increase the depth and feel of the feedback. Based on the full contents of the document, it’s suggested that players would get a more personalized experience with the new motors.
“The concepts described herein enhance a haptic response of a device by incorporating haptic subcomponents into a moving or flexible mechanical architecture of the device that allows for the haptic motor to move relative to a housing of the device,” the patent reads. “This allows for a lower cost, weight, size, and energy consuming haptic component to perform similar to a larger haptic component, or to enhance the haptic response of the larger haptic component.”
With these new moveable and adjustable haptic motors, it seems to be Microsoft’s answer to the popular DualSense controller introduced this console generation from Sony. Microsoft has been developing its new Sebile controller for a while now, and this could be the start of finding out some of its features.
According to Jez Corden of Windows Central, this new controller isn’t likely to launch before the next generation of Xbox hardware.

Good because the haptic motors in the standard controllers suck.
I’ve had about 2-3x burn out and start rattling already.
I’ve also had stick drift, and squeaky triggers with them as well.
The Series X/S controllers simply put have lower build quality than the XB Ones.
I only ever bought one of those, but it is still issue free to this day.
Microsoft should be making games instead. Bring back Kakuto Chojin with Seiichi Ishii and bring the Kamen Rider Geats team as writers, hire John Tobias to bring back Tao Feng. Work with Saber Interactive for a new Mech Assault and a open world third person action Crimson Skies. Treyarch and Beenox even Infinity Ward should make superheroes games. Prototype needs a remake. Banjo remake, Kameo remake, THPS remakes, THUG remake, Brute Force remake, Nightcaster remake, Blur 2, Quantum Redshift 2, Riddick, Grim Fandango GTA like, Conker, Jet Force Gemini remake, New Vegas remake, a bunch of stuff they should be doing.
Microsoft make a remake of True Crime NY and make a sequel finally!
If MS implements haptic controls as PS5 did then they might as well not bother, it;s just a waste and unnecessary expense. I have the PS5 and HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST which is supposed to make use of the PS5’s haptic controller and I’ve yet to experience where it was worth the extra costs to add that to the controller. Maybe HFW didn’t do as good a job using haptic feedback as it could but this reminds me of teh promises of VR on console games; lot of promises not delivered on.

Microsoft needs to acquire Take Two Interactive
Useless technology considering most people turn rumbles of ,how about bringing hall effect or tmr joysticks ,I guess that will never happen as Xbox would lose a lot of money if people don’t need a new controller because stick drift .scum bags really.
