Marvel Cosmic Invasion has been revealed during the Nintendo Direct for March 2025. A side-scrolling beat ’em up, the game comes from Tribute Games—the developers of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge and Mercenary Kings.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion sees you select a team of two heroes to fight your way through enemies in order to stop Annihilus’ attack on the galaxy. The game will also feature four-player drop-in/drop-out multiplayer both online and locally.
Playable characters include Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Storm, Phyla-Vell, Venom and Nova. The announcement mentions this being the “first set” of playable characters, suggesting that more will be revealed ahead of the game’s launch.

The game features a new “Cosmic Swap System” allowing players to swap their characters mid-fight—hence the team of two—in order to take advantage of specific powers and abilities to defeat enemies.
“This project allows us to pay homage not only to the iconic Marvel characters but also to the classic arcade games that shaped our love for gaming,” Tribute Games CEO and co-founder Jean-François Major said via release. “We approach this cherished license with the utmost respect, infusing every pixel with the care and passion it deserves.”
Haluk Mentes, the head of Marvel Games, added: “Our whole team are huge fans of Tribute and Dotemu’s work, so it was inevitable that we’d assemble with them to bring players the ultimate Marvel Beat ’em Up, Marvel Cosmic Invasion – a game we can’t wait for players to dig into!”
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is scheduled to release later this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
