Major Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update Adds ‘Casual Mode’

Dragon’s Dogma 2 continues to be popular six months after release, and Capcom is still pumping the game with updates – including a recent patch that adds a new ‘casual mode’. The most recent major update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 promises to boost performance, tweak classes, and provide hundreds of bug fixes, per the patch notes.

Check out the full breakdown below.

For The Casuals

The latest Dragon’s Dogma 2 update introduces a casual mode that can be switched on in the game’s settings menu. It was stressed that if you’re playing in casual mode, you’ll be unable to switch back to ‘normal mode’, and that some achievements will be locked – we’re yet to determine what they are.

In the patch notes published by Capcom, it was revealed that casual mode will offer the following benefits:

  • Reduced inn fees for staying at an inn
  • Reduced price of Ferrystones
  • More difficult for weight carried to become “Heavy” or “Very Heavy”
  • Less Stamina expended when dashing outside of battle
  • Loss gauge will not increase when selecting “Load from Last Save” after the Arisen dies
  • Pawns will recover from dragonsplague without a “devastating calamity” occurring, even if the symptoms progress to a terminal stage

The team also provided balances and tweaks for a wide array of vocations, such as increasing strength for Fighter weapons, adjusting some ability timings for Warrior, and boosting damage scaling for Archer attacks with a bow.

On PC, Capcom has ‘reduced the frequency of crashes’ and fixed some problems with CPU load.

On top of that, there are new animations, the display language setting has been updated to include Polish, and several hundred fixes and adjustments have been applied to NPCs, enemies, quests, UI, and more.

It’s a hefty update – is it enough to make you want to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 again or for the first time? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Forum.
