At the end of Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, 2K closed out the show with the announcement of Mafia: The Old Country.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5, the game is set to launch in 2025 with a deeper reveal coming this December.
“Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” the trailer’s description reads.
“Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

The development of Mafia: The Old Country has been known for some time now. However, it had never been announced in any sort of official capacity by Take-Two Interactive and 2K.
When it releases, the game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

So Take Two is releasing Borderlands 4, Mafia Old Country, and Grand Theft Auto 6 all in 2025? That could be a big year for them or a big fail. Honestly I would have preferred if we got a modern Gammorah style Mafia game.
Why can’t we get a new Sleeping Dogs game? all we have now in this space now are GTA and Mafia. Maybe Microsoft brings back True Crime?
The trailer looks really interesting. I didn’t know this game was in development. I really hope the game’s good because the setting’s awesome. I’m glad they’re going back in time to explore the origins of the Mafia, and maybe the Salieri family from the first Mafia game released in 2002. The lineup of games scheduled from late 2024 to late 2025 is shaping up to be the best of this generation. Hopefully this game will release at a time in 2025 where it doesn’t get overlooked because of GTA.
Or maybe another new Max Payne game, or a sequel to LA Noire.
