Lionel Messi Rumoured to Be Coming to Fortnite

It has been claimed by a prominent Fortnite leaker that Lionel Messi is coming to Fortnite soon. In a post on social media, HYPEX posted that exact message, along with a picture of the iconic footballing legend.

This isn’t the first time that a soccer player will have appeared in Fortnite, though. Up to now, the likes of Neymar, Harry Kane, and Marco Reus have surfaced in the popular battle royale title.

Messi Incoming

This past week has been a Fortnite craze, from the release of Fortnite OG to the massive success of the Juice Wrld event, and from leaks revealing new skins to more celebrity crossovers surfacing on social media.

Recently, it was claimed that Hatsune Miku will be added to Fortnite in 2025, which sparked a social frenzy amongst fans and the wider community.

On Twitter, user ‘HYPEX’, who has a solid track record where Fortnite leaks are concerned, claimed that Lionel Messi will be added to Fortnite in the near future. Earlier today, dataminers spotted references to Lionel Messi in the game’s code as the latest patch was being added to the game.

In the code, the references ‘Lionel Messi’ and ‘Streetwear Spark Messi’ were discovered.

As always, claims like this are to be taken with a pinch of salt until they’re fully confirmed and bear in mind that things can always change at the last second.

Are you excited to drop into Fortnite as Lionel Messi, or is there another soccer player (footballer…) you’d want to play as? Let us know on the Insider Gaming forum.
