Slight spoilers, but the Lies of P ending suggested we were clicking our red shoes on the way to Oz. However, the February State of Play delivered a welcome surprise in Lies of P Overture—an interesting prequel set for Summer 2025.
Lies of P developers Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio had us all on a string. The debut adventure went beyond a soulslike clone to forge a new identity and cement itself as an excellent addition to the competitive genre.
It’s fair to say Lies of P fans have been waiting for news of the title’s next installment. Instead of a direct sequel, Lies of P Overture is a brand-new prequel revisiting a Krat on the verge of chaos.
Lies of P Overture Prequel Release Period Announced During Sony State of Play

Although Lies of P Overture’s first trailer didn’t give us a release date, we have a rock-solid release period as the action title is due to arrive during Summer 2025.
Overture came to attention as a surprise during the February 2025 edition of Sony State of Play. It’s described by the Announcement Trailer as “A dramatic prequel to the acclaimed Lies of P, transporting you to the city of Krat in its final days of haunting late-19th-century Belle Époque beauty.”
It’s the same puppet we grew to love (or hate) during Lies of P. The focus is less on Gepetto this time though, and we need to venture into Krat once more to set Lies of P’s future events in stone.
I for once am excited to return to Krat. It’s likely more information should become available in the final couple of months leading up to its Summer 2025 release. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the prequel.
Let us know if you think a prequel could be interesting, or if you’re disappointed we have to wait for a potential Wizard of Oz-inspired sequel in the franchise.
