Just yesterday, it was revealed that The Last of Us Part II will be coming to PlayStation 5 as of January 2024. It was mostly a predictable move from Naughty Dog, but now it has been confirmed, fans of the post-apocalyptic epic are excited about experiencing the story all over again, this time on their shiny, new PlayStation 5 consoles.
And there’s more good news in store – you can essentially pick the game up for just $10, provided you fulfil one key criteria.
How to Get TLOU2 For $10
Well, it’s through Sony’s ‘upgrade path’ mechanic – and it’s not the first time that it has been seen. For instance, PlayStation’s ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ recently got the same treatment.
If you own The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4, you’ll be able to upgrade to the version on PlayStation 5 – with all its extra content – for just $10. If you own the PS4 version digitally, you just upgrade for $10. If you’re a disc-based player, you just upgrade and throw the PS4 disc into your PlayStation 5, provided you don’t have the digital-only version of the console.
It doesn’t end there though as players will be able to transfer their save data across the ether, ensuring that they can enjoy New Game+ right from the start on PlayStation 5, losing nothing but gaining so much.
Gaining what, exactly?
Well, here’s what’s new for TLOU2 on PlayStation 5:
- An all-new ‘Roguelike’ survival mode called ‘No Return’
- ‘Lost Levels’ that reveal cut content
- ‘Guitar Free Play’
- New character and weapon skins
- Developer commentary
- 4K in fidelity, improved loading times, and DualSense integration
It’s a sizeable offering, and if you’ve never played The Last of Us Part II before, I can wholeheartedly recommend picking it up on PlayStation 5 when it’s released on January 19, 2024. Get started now with The Last of Us Part I, as the stories interconnect beautifully and there’s a fair chance a lot of Part II will go over your head if you haven’t touched upon the first game.

Mislead you still have to pay $10 for the upgrade to ultimately pay $70. Sony is full of it! Ragnarok now this. They wanted to do it to Horizon 2 also.
