We know that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is going to offer an enormous, expansive adventure when it’s released next February, but now we have some numbers to make that depth more tangible. On Twitter, Warhorse Studios’ Daniel Vávra confirmed that the KCDII script totals 11,000 ‘typical screenwriting pages’, which equals around 2.2 million words of dialogue.
That’s an insane figure. To put that into perspective, it was estimated ten years ago that GTA 5’s full script was 3,500 pages long. In 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 was released with around 2 million words of dialogue, and that set the Guinness World Record for the longest script for a videogame.
Could we have a new record holder?
Going The Distance
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is shaping up to be an open-world RPG of epic proportions. This sizeable adventure is a direct follow-on from 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance, one of my favourite games and a deeply immersive and realistic medieval RPG.
In the sequel, we join our protagonist, Henry of Skalitz, as he explores a world twice the size of the one that came before. With countless side quests, a lengthy story that’ll take the average player way more than 50 hours to complete, and a rich, detailed world to trawl through, players will be kept thoroughly entertained with KCDII for weeks to come.
On Twitter, Daniel Vávra revealed just how sizeable a quest the player is facing with KCDII:
If that figure can be verified, then Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 just secured the Guinness World Record for the longest videogame script ever. Also, knowing how talented the team at Warhorse Studios is, and how capable the voice actors like Tom McKay are, not a single word in this game will be wasted or unnecessary.
Are you excited to sink your teeth into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 when it’s released next year?
