Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was released in February 2025 to an insanely positive reception, with fans worldwide praising the open-world medieval RPG. It has already become one of the best games of 2025, but it’s set to get better as the year unravels, with Warhorse Studios pumping updates and expansions into the game.
One of the most highly anticipated updates coming soon will introduce Hardcore Mode to the game. This will take Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, an already difficult game, and make it even more challenging for players.
Read on to learn everything we know about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode.
Hardcore Henry
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a pretty punishing game – at least until you get a few levels in your character, that is.
It’s designed to be realistic, and that means combat isn’t for the weak, disease and pestilence are everywhere, and failing a speech check could result in an entire town trying to lynch you. That’s life in medieval Bohemia, I guess.
In February 2025, the team at Warhorse Studios revealed that a Hardcore Mode would be coming to the game later in the year. In March, the team then expanded on that deliverable, explaining what Hardcore Mode means for players in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
It was confirmed that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode will:
- Remove most of the UI (except for critical elements)
- Remove the player’s icon from the game’s map so you don’t know where you are
- Lock fast travel so you need to ride or walk everywhere
- Unlock various ‘negative perks’ that alter your game dramatically
- Remove cardinal directions from the game’s compass
- Make enemies tougher
- Make debuffs like hunger and fatigue more impactful
Most of these elements were present in the Hardcore Mode available in the first game, which was released in 2018. If you think you’re a skilled gamer, you’ll want to at least try playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode.
I won’t because I’m a wimp when it comes to games, and I prefer to retain the sense of overpoweredness that I’ve acquired from my many, many hours in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
