There are many things to discover for the first time in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The first time a wolf tears you to pieces is one. Or the first time you sleep in a random bed to heal, forget this isn’t Elder Scrolls, and immediately have the authorities after you. But I also remember the first time it went dark, and an NPC warned me they’d report me if I didn’t have any light.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is brutal, but more so if you’re an emissary of the shadows.
How To Use Torch in KC2
You need to equip a Torch in your inventory, exit the menu, and hold down on the D-Pad for PlayStation and Xbox, or hold the R key on PC to pull out your Torch.
I’ve extensively checked the tutorials and help menus and can’t find anything about the Torch. Maybe I missed it while I was sweating trying over a Lockpick or something. Either way, this is how to get your Torch in your hands, and here’s a quick step-by-step to break it down too:
- Load into your game of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
- Bring up your Inventory screen.
- Scroll down to the Weapons section.
- Check Other Weapons.
- Search for a Torch, and if you have one, press on it.
- Confirm its place in your free slots.
- Exit the menu screen to real-time gameplay.
- Hold the down button on the D-Pad for a couple of seconds—or R on PC (by default).
- Henry should pull out the Torch.
- It should automatically be aflame!
What Does a Torch Do in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?
A Torch is needed for night-time periods in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to stop you from being arrested.
The Kingdom of Bohemia can be ruthless. But believe me when I tell you that if you’re caught skulking in a town or city in the darkness, with no torch, the authorities will be onto you. It’s considered an affront to township etiquette, I guess?
If you don’t have a Torch, you need to be adept at slinking. Evade the eyeline of guards—and concerned NPCs—and you might make it through to the next day. You can also wait or sleep it out as well.
Where To Find a Torch in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
You can find Torches by Trading, checking houses and other buildings, or finding them out in the wild.
Stealing
Go into people’s houses, Inns, and service-providing establishments. Have a quick snoop around and see if you can find a Torch. If you do, loot it, and get away and flee the scene. It’ll save you some Groschen in the process.
Trading
You can find merchants almost anywhere in Kingdome Come Deliverance 2. Check their wares and look for a Torch whenever you find one. They’re not expensive, and you can always sell some supplies (and Haggle) to secure a much-needed light-bearing Torch.
Vigilance in the Wild
There are many forests, streams, and dangerous mountains scattered around the land. There are also treasure chests, random caches, and Bandit Camps. Again, chances are you can naturally stumble across a Torch if you’re investigative enough.
