Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a massive open world ripe for the taking, and there are many occasions in which you’ll need to use Scouts. This new mechanic in Assassin’s Creed is helpful – but not entirely clear at first blush. While you might eventually find out what Scouts are for, you can learn how to use Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows with this handy guide.
Read on to learn everything you need to know about using Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Trust me, you’ll need them.
What Are Scouts For in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Scouts are almost unseen companions that you can summon in Assassin’s Creed Shadows to help you out in a few handy ways. Most commonly, you’ll use them to find and reveal locations and objectives on the map, or you’ll use them to smuggle resources back to your Hideout.
They’re a finite resource, which means you can very easily run out of them, so you’ll need to make sure you’re using them wisely.
If you’re playing in Guided Mode, you’ll find that Scouts are a little less valuable, but you’ll still need them to transport large piles of supplies to your Hideout, which you’ll then use for crafting or upgrading your base.
Those playing in the more immersive Non-Guided Mode will need to use Scouts to reveal objectives on the map, especially if they’re having a hard time locating them without any map markers or indicators.
How to Get More Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
More Scouts can be unlocked in Assassin’s Creed Shadows by upgrading the Study building, which you can construct in your Hideout relatively early on in the game. By upgrading this, you’ll increase your maximum Scout count.
Alternatively, you can find regular people in the open world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and recruit them as Scouts. Typically, you’ll need to do something for them first, such as helping them out with a delivery or taking care of someone who is bothering them.
In one sequence, I had to solve a tough riddle before a man would act as a Scout for me.
How to Refresh Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
If you’ve used all your Scouts, there are two ways you can ‘restock’ or ‘refresh’ them.
The first way is to head back to your Hideout or a Kakurega and pay a stack of Mon to refresh them. The second method is to pass time in the game by transitioning to a new season, which is done by fast-travelling, starting a key mission, or just activating the time-skip mechanic on the map screen.
Every new season will bring about a refresh of your Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
