How to Use Knife in Black Ops 6

Let’s cut to the chase and tell you how to use your Knife in Black Ops 6—or any Melee Weapon. CoD’s newest shooter is continually evolving with new handheld objects of destruction, and there’s a specific way to equip your Knife, Power Drill, or other imaginative Melee tools.

Black Ops 6 is about more than guns. There’s a plethora of Melee Weapons you can use to bludgeon, mutilate, and maim foes. There was a time when Call of Duty was a serious military franchise, but it’s lightened up in recent years. Where we once had standard blades, we now have hammers and drills.

Black Ops 6‘s inability to communicate melee instructions isn’t a drill. You shouldn’t have to suffer this anguish, so let’s show you how to sharpen your Knife-killing skills.

How to Equip the Knife in Black Ops 6

To equip the Knife—or any Melee Weapon—hold down R3 on PlayStation, RS on Xbox, or V on PC to switch to your Knife, for example.

You perform a weaker Melee Weapon attack if you only click the button. Holding it down is the key to the weapon switch. Bear this in mind if things go awry mid-fight.

Here’s a quick rundown of the equipping process to make this easier:

  1. Get yourself into a game of Black Ops 6.
  2. Wait to gain control of your character.
  3. Hold down R3 on PlayStation, RS on Xbox, or V on PC at any point.
  4. Your Operator should put away their weapon and switch to their Melee Weapon.

Your Melee Weapon is a fast-acting gadget that can quickly end an opponent if you get close enough. One or two quick strikes bag a kill, and while it’s a very risk-and-reward type of implement, it’s a nice change of pace from hiding behind cover and gunning players down at range.

How to Unequip Melee Weapon in Black Ops 6

Quickly press Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or 1 and 2 on PC to change back to your Primary or Secondary Weapon.

It’s as easy as that. If you need a gun instead of a gadget, pressing the correct button on your platform puts the Melee Weapon away for now. If you need to equip it again, you know how.

You need to press R3 on PlayStation, RS on Xbox, or V on PC with the Melee Weapon equipped to use it. Or, press the Fire button to do the same job: R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, and Left Mouse Button on PC.

It’s all about preference at the end of the day! I press the Fire button as it’s instinctive at this point.

All Melee Weapons in Black Ops 6

Black Ops 6’s collection of Melee Weapons grows by the season, and the default Knife isn’t your only choice.

Here’s every Melee Weapon available so far at the time of writing:

More Melee Weapons will come, so be ready to unlock and use more handheld objects.

Executing a Melee Weapon kill with your Knife or any other implement is brutal. But Black Ops 6 isn’t supposed to be unicorns and rainbows—although a Unicorn horn wouldn’t surprise me as a weapon. What fun Melee Weapons would you like to see added to the growing collection in BLOPS 6?
