2025 Warzone is going back to its roots, and Black Ops 6 players can benefit from Thermite. The legendary Lethal is coming back to burn through hopes and dreams of winning, and we can show you how to unlock it.
What year is it? Verdansk is back in Warzone, the Monolithic Suppressor is running riot in loadouts, and Thermite has resurrected from the dead. Call of Duty has been given a much-needed shot in the arm with 2025’s Season 3 content. Among all the new goodies is the Verdansk map—a haven of memories and massacres.
Activision finally brought back the battle royale map in Season 3. But it didn’t stop there, as a veritable treasure trove of classic content is inbound.
How to Get Thermite in Black Ops 6 & Warzone

The Thermite is an automatic unlock through the upcoming Black Ops Tribute Event in Warzone and Black Ops 6.
Verdansk isn’t the end of the world—although it was blown up a few years ago. There needs to be more stuff to look forward to, as well as the map. The Tribute Event is perfect as it gives you a chance to earn XP, special rewards, and the Thermite unlock.
It’s set to debut on April 17 and finishes up on May 1. The Event gives the community a solid two weeks to unlock everything.
Activision hasn’t stated the specifics yet. But it’s likely to be an instant unlock once Black Ops 6 and Warzone players cumulatively earn enough XP to obtain the Thermite Lethal. Previous events have behaved in the same way, but if this changes, we’ll let you know!
What Does Thermite do in Warzone & Black Ops 6?
Thermite is a throwable Lethal piece of Equipment in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Once thrown, it sticks to a surface (like a Semtex) and proceeds to burn away for a few seconds.
You can stick opponents with Thermite, but the developer has stated it’s “not guaranteed to down an opponent” this time around. It’s also super effective if stuck to vehicles, giving you a great option if an enemy player is chasing you down on wheels.
Activision says: “Whether you’re preventing enemies from entering a tenement bloc doorway or wanting a sticky incendiary takedown that damages over time, Thermite is likely to be a game-changer. Though not guaranteed to down an opponent, Thermite is extremely effective at burning enemies, as well as vehicles to an explosive finish. Find it in loot or as part of your Loadout.”
Verdansk’s return signaled the highest peak viewer count since 2022! The good times seem to have returned this year. Let us know if you’re having fun in our Insider Gaming Forum.
