While we still don’t have a release date for Splitgate 2 beyond “sometime in 2025,” the studio is gearing up for a playtest in which they’ll invite countless users who will test out the core gameplay and check for any issues, such as balancing. However, not everyone will receive access to the alpha test of Splitgate 2. Here’s how to get in!
How to Get Alpha Access to Splitgate 2
There is currently only one way to get access to the Splitgate 2 alpha, and that’s by signing up via the game’s Steam store page. When you navigate to the page, scroll down below the planned release date box until you see “Join the Splitgate 2 Playtest.” There, you’ll find a clickable green box that reads “Request Access.” Go ahead and hit that box to notify the studio of your interest.
Unfortunately, signing up for the alpha playtest this way does not guarantee you a spot. It’s often first come, first serve with such playtests. Alternatively, they may draw from a random pool of interested users. Either way, there’s no telling until you receive the Steam notification pop-up.
The studio may wind up providing alpha test codes on social media as part of a giveaway, but that’s not a guarantee, either. They may not give any codes whatsoever, so don’t get your hopes up. Sign up on Steam!

When Does the Splitgate 2 Alpha Begin?
If you receive access to the alpha playtest, then you can expect to test out and enjoy Splitgate 2 between August 21 and August 25. It’s an extremely short window to try out the upcoming free-to-play arena shooter, but for those who love the genre, it’s enough. It’s a taste of what’s to come.
That said, this is an alpha playtest. It’s meant to uncover bugs, glitches, and balancing issues. So, if you get in and you discover something game-breaking or even downright annoying, then go ahead and report it to developer 1047 Games!
