Near the beginning of Atomfall is a locked door guarding the Sewer Tunnels. It’s not immediately clear how to unlock this door, but through some detective work and exploring, we’ve uncovered this mystery for you and laid out the answer in a quick and easy guide.
Hiking around Atomfall‘s vast biomes is one of the survival RPG’s strengths. Venturing into an infested house, overcoming a gang of marauding and murderous Outlaws, and avoiding irradiated rats is part of the charm. You’ll come across many locked doors and rooms, and the Sewer Tunnels are likely one of your first hurdles.
They’re not compulsory to enter early on, but it would be nice to look around.
How to Open Locked Sewer Tunnels in Slatten Dale

To enter the Sewer Tunnels through Slatten Dale’s locked you need to find a specific key sold by a merchant.
In my experience with Atomfall, the key can’t be found, and there are two ways to obtain the key:
- Trade with a merchant called Molly Jowett
- Kill Molly Jowett and take the key.
If you look to the left of the locked door, there’s a note pinned to the wall. It tells you her location and that she has the literal key to the door. We need to visit her.
Where to Find Sewer Tunnels Key in Atomfall

The Sewer Tunnels key can be found on Merchant Molly Jewett, and she is located in the Slatten Dale Trader Camp using coordinates 26.4 E and 79.1 N.
Her note says she’s at the bottom of a hill. If you head to this spot, you’ll go down the hill and arrive at the Trader Camp. You’ll find Molly here, and you can Barter with her to claim the Sewer Tunnels key.
Note: You need to trade enough items or have enough value in the items you trade to make the negotiation fair. Once you’ve met the criteria, the key is yours. Conversely, you can kill Molly and take the key—and the rest of her items for free—but it means you lose a trade partner for the rest of the game. Think carefully before you make your decision.
Once you have the key (no matter how), head back to the locked door again, and you can unlock it and venture into the Sewer Tunnels!
