Sugardew Island features multiple forms of currency, namely Sugardew and Harmony. However, you can’t spend the latter in the same way as the former, making it slightly more useful. Still, you require Harmony to progress through the game, unlocking additional quests, farmstead upgrades, and new islands to explore and rescue. But for now, let’s focus on earning money fast in Sugardew Island by acquiring as much Sugardew as humanly possible!
How to Earn Sugardew in Sugardew Island
First and foremost, know that everything you sell in Sugardew Island earns you a nice chunk of cash. It’s not always enough to survive on the remote island, like selling weeds, wood, or stone, but you can still rid your inventory of such junk and make a little Sugardew to reinvest into your farmstead. I do highly recommend selling weeds. They’re trash!

More importantly, though, here’s how to earn Sugardew quickly:
- As you can only open your farm store once daily, ensure every shelf is fully stocked. Yeah, I broke that rule in the screenshot up top, but I was running low on crops! You want to fill every slot with something, whether a low-tier item like weeds or a high-tier item, like garlic or cucumbers. Either way, give the people something to buy!
- When you start to earn a regular profit, reinvest the money you receive by speaking to Tomte up north by the magical tree, as he’ll sell you a variety of seeds, such as:
- Carrot Seeds
- Wheat Seeds
- Cucumber Seeds
- Potato Seeds
- Garlic Seeds Corn Seeds
- Turnip Seeds

- Along with a selection of handy crop seeds, Tomte also sells fertilizer that automatically waters plants and one that is infinitely more helpful, as it accelerates plant growth. Once you have the money, invest in Quick Fertilizer to keep your store stocked with fresh produce!
- Occasionally, customers will bring an item to the counter but aren’t ready to pull the trigger. In such cases, you have three options: Recommend (Low Chance of Success), Advise (Medium Chance of Success), and Discount (High Chance of Success). It’s a gamble, as offering a Discount guarantees a sale but reduces the amount you’ll earn by half. It’s usually more prudent to go with Advise in the early game, as you’ll almost always guarantee the sale, earning you both Sugardew and Harmony. Once you have enough of the former, go ahead and Recommend more frequently.

- Lastly, if you don’t mind missing out on a bunch of Harmony, the currency that goes toward quest progress, and you simply want to focus on Sugardew to buy new crops, house upgrades, or farm animals, then you can use the bulletin board just to the right of the stairs leading to your house. Here, you can select what is essentially a bounty—customers requesting specific amounts of vegetables and other goods—and you’ll receive a tidy sum once you deliver.
