Wolves are a constant menace in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and I’ve died to them constantly. Repeated encounters have toughened me up though, and if you’re struggling with these four-legged menaces, I’ve got top tips to make each fight easier.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 tries to kill you in multiple ways: Food poisoning, soldiers, hunger, high falls, and Bohemia’s wildlife. My first few run-ins with Wolves were torturous—especially when they hunt in packs. Desperately switching back and forth between targets, landing the occasional blow, and getting bitten more than a tourist with a penchant for attracting mosquitos.
However, after many hours of gameplay, you learn a thing or two. Let’s see if I can bestow some advice to stop you from howling with rage.
Best Ways to Kill Wolves in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
You need to effectively dodge, use bows, learn to block precisely, try to keep any Wolves in your view, and even melee them in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
There’s a few ways to deal with these big, furry dogs, so let’s dissect each tip and why it’s effective in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Blocking
You’re taught early on how to Perfect Block and Riposte. This is a big recommendation here—although I know it can be tricky. Focus your attention on one Wolf and wait patiently for the green and blue symbols to defend and strike at opportune moments. Getting the timing done can be stressful, but it’s more than doable.
Bows
I’d opt for a Crossbow, but any bow should work here. Why bother getting yourself into a close-range engagement with Wolves when you can fight from a distance? Get yourself a decent bow, load up on arrows and bolts, and concentrate on backpedaling while aiming shots at the Wolves. You should be able to get a kill without ever being troubled.
Dodging
If you’re bowless, you need to utilize dodges. It’s a great way to clear space, evade incoming attacks, and get you closer or further away from your target. This is more of a maneuverability tactic than anything, but again, it can save your life if you master it.
Melee
I found I could land melee strikes quite consistently, although they don’t do a ton of damage. Swiping at Wolves with a sword can reap mixed results. However, a few swift melee strikes seem to land more often. If the creature is close to death, I’d highly recommend unequipping your weapon and fighting it with your limbs—if you dare.
Keep Wolves in Sight
I’ve rarely fought a single Wolf, it’s usually not alone. So being aware of your environment is paramount to your chances of success. If there are three Wolves, and you can only see two, that third Wolf is a problem. Use dodging here to ensure you move around quickly to keep all targets within your eyeline if possible.
Here’s hoping Wolves and Dogs don’t give you trouble anymore. They are still troublesome and can inflict big damage. Have you found any techniques you use to deal with Dogs and Wolves? Feel free to share them below.
