Frostpunk 2 features a relatively small number of resources that play an integral role in your settlement’s survival. One essential resource you constantly require to construct new Districts, Buildings, and Hubs is Prefabs. But it’s not immediately evident how to get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2 or how to scale production. We’re here to help!
Where to Get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2
There are a few ways to acquire Prefabs in Frostpunk 2, the most common being constructing an Extraction District or Industrial District. These Districts produce a small number of Prefabs weekly, allowing you to accumulate more slowly over time.
While that’s fine for passive production, you’ll require significantly more Prefabs than either District can produce. So, you have other options. You can find the occasional node left behind from the old world and use an Extraction District to source the Prefabs from beneath the ice. That’s a helpful way to acquire a bunch simultaneously. You can find these nodes by holding down “5” on the keyboard, which activates the Materials overlay.
The final way to acquire Prefabs is to send our Frostland Teams and explore more of the Frostland. You’ll inevitably uncover points of interest, such as settlements or old-world manufacturing facilities, that store Prefabs, which you may send back to your central city using the Trails mechanic.

Why You Need Prefabs
In Frostpunk 2, you require Prefabs for nearly everything. Every piece of construction—Districts, Hubs, and Buildings—requires specific amounts of Prefabs to build in and around your settlement.
With so many structures requiring Prefabs, you will run out quickly unless you scale production and constantly source additional avenues for more. Eventually, your current map will run low or outright empty of all Prefabs. You’ll have to send Frostland Teams out into the world to source more, but by then, you should have a nice stockpile so you’re not stagnant!
