How to Get More Netherworld Energy in The First Berserker Khazan—How to Get More Heals

The ability to heal is priceless in The First Berserker Khazan. Netherworld Energy is the key, and you need to get as many heals as possible. This guide covers everything you need to know about withstanding more potentially fatal blows.

Outside of a select few deities, we mere mortals need to heal in Soulslike games. We need an inexhaustible supply of health points to tank excessive combos. The First Berserker Khazan embodies the ‘extra heals’ philosophy because bosses can reduce you to a quivering wreck in seconds.

Even after the developer decided to nerf the hardest bosses in the game, it’s still a battle to survive in Khazan. You’ve come to the right place if you need more Netherworld Energy.

I’ve found two main ways to get more Netherworld Energy in The First Berserker Khazan: Finding them as drops out in a level or equipping a certain armor set.

Predetermined Drops

My first instance of finding Netherworld Energy came during Mission 3, in the Forgotten Temple chapter found in Embar Ruins. Early on, you open a set of stone doors, taking you inside a giant temple. Inside, you come to a giant effigy-looking statue which several creatures are praying too.

Behind it, you find a giant set of stairs going up. If you go up them and to the right, there’s a linear path you can follow, and eventually drop down to meet a Bard—he’s also a merchant too. Once you’re done with him, go in the opposite direction and drop down a ledge to find the Netherworld Energy shining on the floor.

This gives you a permanent addition to your Netherworld Energy total moving forward. There are also likely more drops scattered throughout The First Berserker Khazan, so we’ll update this guide as and when we find more.

Equipping Specific Armor Sets

The First Berserker Khazan uses a system similar to the Nioh series. If you equip different pieces of armor in the same set, you gain special bonuses the more of the set you wear.

One of my favorite sets early on is the Ashen Wolf Set. Equipping multiple pieces gives you better bonuses, and you can see them all here.

How Many Pieces Needed to EquipBonus
2Dodge Stamina Cost Decrease 10%
3Health Recovery Increase 20%
4Composed & Potent Blow: Stamina DMG Increase 10%
5Netherworld Energy Increase +1
6Potent Blow: DMG Increase 15%

As you can see, having five pieces of gear in this set grants you a +1 Netherworld Energy Increase. This means that as long as you keep this set active with five pieces of it equipped, you keep this bonus.

If you unequip so much as one piece of Ashen Wolf gear, you lose the “Netherworld Energy Increase +1” bonus, leaving you with “Composed & Potent Blow: Stamina DMG Increase 10%” as your latest buff.

Other sets with a Netherworld Energy Increase include the Fallen Star Set (more on pre-order bonuses later), and the Cleric Set.

I’d be lying if I said you’re now invincible, as Khazan is hard, very hard. Here’s hoping your newfound healing potential helps you survive longer. Do you think The First Berserker Khazan is too hard, even on Easy mode? Drop a comment and let us know what you think.
