The Pink Floyd fight in Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the most incredible Easter Eggs in the fighting series’ history, and we have everything you need to know such as making him appear, and the story behind the encounter.
Mortal Kombat‘s content has always perfectly juxtaposed its attitude. MK’s violence and excessive gore and mutilation have been the subject of much controversy for over 30 years. It’s also the same series that has provided players with the chance to finish fights with Friendships and Babalities and has Dan Forden popping up to shout Toasty! from time to time.
There are secrets galore sprinkled into each entry, and MK1 is no different. Floyd AKA Pink Floyd has appeared in Mortal Kombat 1, offering a unique fight and cool rewards. Thanks to the fastidious work of fans, the Floyd fight is no longer a secret.
How To Unlock Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1
Unlocking Floyd requires a Mortal Kombat 1 player profile to complete 10 challenges out of 37 to make the pink ninja appear.
Firstly, thanks to thetiny, on X, for uncovering this secret and everything attached. I can’t even begin to fathom how much work this took and how you figure this out, but credit to all involved.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on what to do, and then I’ll explain further:
- Make sure you’re on your primary Mortal Kombat 1 player profile you want to fight Floyd.
- Complete the 10 challenges uniquely associated with your profile—it’s random.
- Once you’ve done the 10th challenge and the fight has finished, a cutscene follows.
- You’re in a field, and Pink Floyd appears with a message saying, “You found Floyd!”
- You now fight Floyd!
- A limited amount of retries are given if you lose to Floyd.
- If you lose, you need to repeat steps 1-6.
A quick note: Certain users have reported unlocking Floyd in less than 10 Challenges. A notification does signify when you’ve completed one of your assigned challenges, so keep track of how many you’ve done.
It might end up being 10, or you may need less—pray the Earthrealm Gods are smiling at you.

Who is Pink Floyd in Mortal Kombat 1?
Floyd is the newest color-palette swap ninja Mortal Kombat was known for in its early days. It’s also an Easter Egg paying homage to Pink Floyd—the iconic English rock band.
The origins of Mortal Kombat saw the now-defunct Midway reuse the same ninja sprite. It would be the same character and animation but with different colors to indicate it’s a new fighter. Scorpion was yellow, Sub-Zero was blue, green was used for Reptile, and so forth. It was cheaper, saved on design and programming costs, and was worked into the game’s lore.
We’ve also had Ermac—a humorous play on the infamous MK error macro bug—in all red and Smoke in grey. The all-purple Rain is another with a musical association as the ninja’s name comes from Prince’s Purple Rain song—an artist who MK co-creator Ed Boon is a huge fan.
A pink ninja is about one of the few remaining colors left. In steps Floyd. The character was hard to track down and is even harder to find, but at least you know the ludicrous amount of hoops required to jump through to get there now!
I know this is a lot of information to get your head around. But I wish you well in your konquest to complete challenges and set you up with a Pink Floyd showdown. Also, let me know how you get on against the fiendish foe.
For more MK news, check out rumors of MK1 DLC being canceled, and Ed Boon addressing this talk.
Rumor was Travis Scott was joining the game is he still? Also they should make Sexyy Red the new Skarlet.
Is NRS making another game? Injustice 3?
