The Fractured Peaks features countless side quests as the opening region in Diablo 4. One such side quest—Secret of the Spring—asks the player for something different. You’re not venturing into a dungeon or delving to kill countless fiends. No, instead, you’ll have to solve a little mystery—a puzzle—at a secret spring tucked out of the way. It’s challenging and often confusing for most, so fret not. Here’s how to complete Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4!
Where to Find the Secret of the Spring Quest?
Unlike most other side quests in Diablo 4, Secret of the Spring spawns on a crumpled note directly north of Kyovashad. As you can see on the map above, it’s the blue quest icon alongside a small pathway.
Simply leave Kyovashad from the north, then continue heading north until you reach the abovementioned area.
Once acquired, the quest reads: “Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.“

How to Solve the Secret of the Spring
With a riddle like that involved, it’s no wonder many of us had difficulties completing Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4.
Thankfully, it’s easier than you think.
Once you discover the spring itself, conveniently marked on your map after you pick up the quest itself, you need to clear the immediate area of hostilities. There may be one or two foes to tackle, though nothing major.
Once you have peace and quiet, stand in front of the spring like I am in the above screenshot, then bring up your emote wheel. You want the ‘Wait’ emote, which isn’t tied to a slot yet. You’ll need to customize your emote wheel, add the new emote, and then use it once.
Using the emote, I discovered the buried chest above the pool in one try, and my wife took two tries. It depends on where you stand.
But a buried chest will appear once you use the ‘Wait’ emote. You’ll complete the quest by opening said chest and solving the Secret of the Spring puzzle. Congrats!
