Betting has been endemic to Counter-Strike esports for years, but the scene really took off after the introduction of skins to CS:GO While skin gambling has died down, the global growth of sports gambling as a whole has opened new opportunities for players to bet on professional Counter-Strike matches.
Placing bets on Counter-Strike esports can be tricky for those just getting started.
How to Bet on Counter-Strike Esports
Players can place wagers on a variety of different Counter-Strike match outcomes. The kind of outcome you bet on is called a market. Here are some common markets you can bet on in Counter-Strike esports:
- Match Winner: Pick the team you think will win the match. Bet on the exact score of a match in a best-of-three or best-of-five to get better odds.
- Map Markets: Bet on a team to win a specific map, or to win at least one map in the series. Alternatively, you can bet on whether or not a series goes to three maps.
- Round Markets: Bet on a map or match to go over or under a specific number of total rounds, or bet on a team to win over or under a specific number of rounds. You can also bet on a team to win or lose by a certain number of rounds, or to win specific rounds like the pistol round.
- Player Markets: Bet on a player to reach a certain number of kills, or to outperform another player in total kills.
With all these different market types, the various Counter-Strike betting sites can provide different ways for players to place wagers. In a match where a favorite is playing an underdog, betting on the favorite to win wouldn’t produce very rewarding odds. The various markets let you tailor a more rewarding bet, like for the favorite to win 2-0 and to hold the underdog team below a number of total rounds won.
