Helldivers 2 Won’t Be Getting Transmog, Arrowhead CEO Says

A highly requested customization feature, transmog, won’t be coming to Helldivers 2, according to Arrowhead Games Studio CEO Johan Pilestedt.

In reply to a request for the feature on Twitter, Pilestedt said it wouldn’t be coming to the game because “it doesn’t make sense”.

“We are not doing transmog,” Pilestedt said. “It doesn’t make sense – equipment looks different because it has different effects. Swapping one for the other is like having an apple that tastes like bacon or the other way around.”

Transmog, officially called transmogrification, is a feature in many games that allows players to equip various items but change their appearance to match each other. In some cases, you can even hide the appearance of your items altogether.

In response to Pilestedt saying the feature wouldn’t be coming to the game, some players took to social media to voice their displeasure.

“Allowing the customisation of armour colours could work as an effective compromise then maybe?” one player said. “My main issue is that my best armour and helmet don’t look good at all together.”
