Helldivers 2 could be releasing this October according to a Sony partnership program mission briefing, which was sent to Insider Gaming under the condition of anonymity.
According to the mission briefing, which appears to be a mistake on behalf of the publisher, creators are told to “mention that the game will be released in October”. Unfortunately, though, no exact date was provided.
The news comes in light of a new update on Reddit, which reveals that Helldivers 2 has officially been rated.
The rating summary reads, “This is an action game in which players assume the role of soldiers attempting to win an intergalactic war. From a third-person perspective, players use pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles, flamethrowers, turrets, grenades, and rocket launchers to shoot and kill enemies (e.g., robots, cyborgs, giant insects). Combat is accompanied by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects; some areas of the battlefield depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses. Players can continue to attack defeated enemies, causing additional blood-splatter effects and dismemberment. Players can also shoot and kill human civilians during rescue missions.”
Multiple rumors since this year’s PlayStation Showcase in May have said that a second showcase will happen later this year, but Sony is yet to officially comment.
Logically, a second showcase makes sense, with Sony stating that more details on its Project Q handheld will be shared later this year. In addition, Sony is expected to share details on its next PlayStation 5 iteration which features a detachable disc drive and is believed to release this September.
It’s unclear if the hardware will just be announced with a PlayStation blog or not, but in our opinion, a second PlayStation showcase is needed for later this year.
