It was a few days ago that Rockstar revealed this year’s Halloween-themed event in GTA Online – Ludendorff Cemetary Survival. It’s a blast from the past that delivers GTA 5 fans a zombie survival mode that they’ve been craving for more than a decade, and it has gone down remarkably well with the community.
In recent hours, the concurrent player count on the Ludendorff Cemetry Survival mode peaked at over 1.2 million users. That’s a testament to the fact that after more than a decade, Grand Theft Auto fans are still very hungry for more content.
Fight Them Back
The Ludendorff Cemetary Survival mode is one of the most engaging events in GTA Online’s ten-year history. In this mode, players must band together and unite against waves of bloodthirsty zombies, making use of a range of weapons and power-ups to take on hordes of the undead.
It’s a clear callback to Red Dead’s Undead Nightmare DLC, which featured a mode exactly like this one.
According to GTAO Stats, the number of plays for the Ludendorff Cemetary Survival map has soared over the weekend, hitting 2.6 million plays in total – 1.2 million of which were unique. It’s not clear just how reliable this data is, but a cursory glance at social and streaming platforms will tell you all you need to know.
It could be said that GTA Online and Grand Theft Auto 5 are in their twilight phase now, preparing to wind down and be replaced for the next decade or so by Grand Theft Auto 6. It has been almost a year since the first trailer for GTA 6 was released, and fans are still chomping at the bit for more information about the game.
We may see a new trailer revealed at The Game Awards in December – but don’t quote me on that.
