It was a few days ago that Rockstar revealed this year’s Halloween-themed event in GTA Online – Ludendorff Cemetary Survival. It’s a blast from the past that delivers GTA 5 fans a zombie survival mode that they’ve been craving for more than a decade, and it has gone down remarkably well with the community.
In recent hours, the concurrent player count on the Ludendorff Cemetry Survival mode peaked at over 1.2 million users. That’s a testament to the fact that after more than a decade, Grand Theft Auto fans are still very hungry for more content.
Fight Them Back
The Ludendorff Cemetary Survival mode is one of the most engaging events in GTA Online’s ten-year history. In this mode, players must band together and unite against waves of bloodthirsty zombies, making use of a range of weapons and power-ups to take on hordes of the undead.
It’s a clear callback to Red Dead’s Undead Nightmare DLC, which featured a mode exactly like this one.
According to GTAO Stats, the number of plays for the Ludendorff Cemetary Survival map has soared over the weekend, hitting 2.6 million plays in total – 1.2 million of which were unique. It’s not clear just how reliable this data is, but a cursory glance at social and streaming platforms will tell you all you need to know.
It could be said that GTA Online and Grand Theft Auto 5 are in their twilight phase now, preparing to wind down and be replaced for the next decade or so by Grand Theft Auto 6. It has been almost a year since the first trailer for GTA 6 was released, and fans are still chomping at the bit for more information about the game.
We may see a new trailer revealed at The Game Awards in December – but don’t quote me on that.

The zombie mode is kind of crappy and half baked. I haven’t played GTA online in years and jumped back on just to kill some RDR style zombies that I’ve been missing and I was thoroughly disappointed. You can tell Rockstar put minimum effort in this and I can’t understand why they canceled so many projects and DLC’s claiming they didn’t have the man power from being so focused on GTA online and GTA 6. This update and many others are half baked and rushed and they could have easily left 5-10 developers on GTA online to make a good DLC or not cancel RDR remaster. It’s been over 10 years since the last rockstar game and I can almost guarantee GTA 6 will not be as good as everyone is hoping. They got lazy and milked GTA online and im pretty sure GTA 6 was on the back burner and definitely hasn’t been in development this entire wait.
