Rockstar Games has revealed that GTA Online on PC will get a performance upgrade early next year. The team plans to implement the enhanced features found on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S game versions on the PC platform, which will introduce ray-tracing and enhanced resolutions, amongst other things.
No date has been provided for this patch, but it was mentioned that it’ll be delivered ‘in the new year’, so it won’t be long into 2025 until the update arrives.
Still Getting Better
It has been over a decade since GTA Online debuted on the GTA 5 platform, and it’s still one of the most popular multiplayer games in the world. It regularly tops streaming and content creation charts worldwide, and Rockstar Games has busied itself over the years supporting the constant growth of this ‘cash cow ecosystem’.
In a recent blog post, the team spoke about everything coming to GTA Online in the next month or two, and to close out that post, they mentioned that the PC platform will be getting the enhanced features handed to PS5 and Xbox Series players some time ago.
This includes features like:
- Ray-tracing
- Further draw distances
- Finer texture details
- Denser traffic
- Enhanced resolutions
This version of GTA Online boasts better performance and more sumptuous visuals, and it’ll be added to the game free of charge next year, which is a huge win. Of course, it won’t be long until we’re shaping up to play whatever multiplayer component comes bundled with Grand Theft Auto 6.
GTA Online 2, perhaps?
