Grand Theft Auto 5 has been upgraded on PC with the Enhanced update, and players are excited. This overhaul of sorts brings technical upgrades, content changes, and some UI improvements to the decade-old open-world game. What’s Different in GTA 5 Enhanced?
On February 20, Rockstar Games revealed the impending release of a free upgrade for GTA 5 on PC, which included features once available exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The overhaul was promised to be considerable, and it’s finally here – but what has changed?
Once players have migrated their story and GTA Online progress to the ‘new version’, they’ll be able to soak up the advantages of GTA 5 Enhanced, which includes:
- Upgraded ray-tracing features (ambient occlusion, global illumination, ray-traced shadows and reflections)
- Support for DLSS 3 and FSR3
- Faster loading times
- Enhanced support for higher resolutions and frame rates
- DualSense controller support with haptic feedback
- Enhanced audio with improved fidelity across the board
- Upgraded particle effects
On social media, users have started sharing images revealing comparisons between the old version of GTA 5 and GTA 5 Enhanced on PC:

But Wait, There’s More!
Rockstar has also added new vehicles to GTA Online, introduced wildlife to the multiplayer platform, and added new menus and a fresh landing page to GTA 5 Enhanced.
PC players can now lean on the GTA+ subscription service to get boosts and special benefits, and a new GTA Online ‘Career Progress’ feature has been implemented. New players will also get a $4 million boost when they start playing after the update, just to help them out in their life of crime in GTA Online.
Rockstar stressed that GTA 5 Enhanced includes kernel-level anti-cheat protections and voice chat moderation to keep GTA Online safe and secure for everyone involved.
