God of War Ragnarok sales have reached a major milestone. According to Sony Santa Monica Studios, the latest release in the God of War series has seen sales reach 11 million units.
The studio made the announcement via Twitter on Wednesday.
“We’re incredibly humbled that [God of War Ragnarok] has officially sold through 11 million copies,” the post said. “None of this would be possible without the support of our fans, so thank you for coming on this journey with us!”
Released on November 9, 2022, God of War Ragnarok is exclusive to both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The game had sold 5.1 million copies in its first week alone, becoming PlayStation’s best-selling first-party game in the console’s history. For it to then hit 11 million units sold in just under three months shows the popularity of Kratos, Atreus, and the God of War franchise.
While it celebrates the sales of the game, the work on God of War Ragnarok isn’t complete for Sony Santa Monica. The studio previously revealed that the game will receive a New Game Plus mode in spring 2023. No specific date has been provided by the studio, however.
“We’ll share more details once we get closer to the release,” the studio said at the time of the announcement.
As far as any other content for the game, that is unlikely based on how the story in Ragnarok wrapped up. But as the old saying goes, the only thing that’s for sure is nothing’s for sure.
