In a new post on X today, developer 11 bit studios appeared to tease that modding will be available in Frostpunk 2 in a surprise trailer.
The teaser trailer shows off dinosaurs and other unusual content within the gritty and grounded world of Frostpunk 2. This strongly hints at potential mods for the game, and fans already speculate that mods could be available at launch.
However, 11 bit studios did not confirm that just yet, and instead teased fans that an answer is coming later this week on August 28, 2024. This will likely include a full breakdown of what players can expect, as well as a release window or date.
In addition to an unexpected tyrannosaurus rex, fans also got a glimpse at a dragon soaring over a city, as well as herds of strange creatures.
At this time, the Frostpunk 2 Steam page says nothing about mods. But it does mention an endless Utopia Builder, a sandbox mode that “leaves room for your experiments.”
One fan also spotted a connection to The Alters in today’s teaser trailer, and the devs responded via X. They teased that “let’s just say we have a lot in common,” hinting at possible game collaborations.
Originally expected last July, 11 bit studios eventually delayed the Frostpunk 2 release date until September 20, 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Game Pass subscribers can also play at launch.
